The little data book on external debt, apocket edition of Global Development Finance (GDF) 2007,volume two, summary and country tables, contains statisticaltables on the external debt of the 135 countries that reportpublic and publicly guaranteed debt under the debtorreporting system. It also includes tables of selected debtand resource flow statistics for individual reportingcountries as well as summary tables for regional and incomegroups. It is the culmination of a year-long process thatrequires extensive cooperation from people and organizationsaround the globe national central banks, ministries offinance, major multilateral organizations, and manydepartments of the World Bank. The little data book onexternal debt provides a quick reference for users of theGDF 2007 book, CD-ROM, GDF online, and the electronicsubscription database. The general cutoff date for data isDecember 2006. The economic aggregates presented in thetables are prepared for the convenience of users. Althoughdebt ratios can provide useful information aboutdevelopments in debt-servicing capacity, conclusions drawnfrom them will not be valid unless accompanied by carefuleconomic evaluation.
