【 摘 要 】

The World Bank has provided technicalassistance (TA) support to the Government of Samoa to helpidentify measures to strengthen agriculture sectorinstitutions, to improve the performance of selectedcommodities - including livestock, fruits and vegetables andorganic products - and to identify strategic agricultureinfrastructure investments. This report provides informationand analysis on opportunities for further development oforganic products. The report also contains recommendationsfor activities that could be potentially supported as partof the proposed Samoa Agriculture Competiveness EnhancementProject (SACEP). This TA has identified a number ofinterventions to support further development of Samoanorganic products. These include promoting domestic-orientedorganic production targeted at the hospitality industry;support for up-grading and expanding existing value chainsfor export-oriented products including Misiluki bananas,coconut oil and products made from coconut oil; andinvestments in improved technology, better facilities, trialprocessing, and trial shipments to new destinations.
