The agribusiness incubator in thestate of Andhra Pradesh in India is the result of apartnership between the Indian government and aninternational crop-research organization that is a member ofCGIAR, a global partnership of organizations seeking afood-secure future. As the incubator has developed, it hasbecome relatively independent of its founders, theInternational Crops Research Institute for the Semi-AridTropics (ICRISAT) and the Indian government s Department ofScience and Technology. From supporting small businessesthat can bring new agricultural research and technology tomarket, ABI has become an incubator of incubators, and isnow helping African incubators follow its model.
