【 摘 要 】
Over the last three decades,China's product, labor, and capital markets have becomegradually more integrated within its borders, althoughintegration has been significantly slower for capitalmarkets. There remains a significant urban-rural divide, andChinese cities tend to be under-sized by internationalstandards. China has also integrated globally, initiallythrough the Special Economic Zones on the coast as launchinggrounds to connect with world markets, and subsequentlythrough the accession to the World Trade Organization. Forfuture policy considerations, this paper argues that itseconomic production needs to be spatially concentrated, andits social services need to be spread out to the interior toensure harmonious development and domestic integration(through inclusive rural-urban transformations and effectiveterritorial development).
