【 摘 要 】
Good teachers are essential forhigh-quality educational systems. However, little is knownabout teachers' skills formation during college. Bycombining two standardized tests for Colombian students, onetaken at the end of senior year in high school and the otherwhen students are near graduation from college, this paperdocuments the extent to which education majors relativelyimprove or deteriorate their skills in quantitativereasoning, native language, and foreign language, incomparison to students in other programs. Teachers'skills vis-a-vis those in other majors deteriorate inquantitative reasoning and foreign language, although theydeteriorate less for those in math-oriented and foreignlanguage-oriented programs. For native language, there is noevidence of robust differences in relative learning mobility.
