【 摘 要 】

Although several studies have found anegative relationship between government spending andentrepreneurship, much debate remains regarding thecomponents of government spending responsible for thisassociation. This paper contributes to the literature byspecifically exploring the relationship between governmentprivate subsidies and entrepreneurship. By combiningmacroeconomic government spending data with individual levelentrepreneurship data, the paper finds a negativeassociation between the share of private subsidies andentrepreneurship. However, findings are less straightforwardwhen the analysis delves deeper into the components ofprivate subsidies and their association with different kindsof entrepreneurship.
