【 摘 要 】
This paper uses a theoretically groundedmodel of international trade to estimate the cross-bordertradability of services. The resulting indices cover up to99 countries and ten sectors. The results show thatinformation and communications technology capital and legalinstitutions are particularly important determinants of acountry's ability to successfully export services. Thetradability indices are strongly correlated with outcomeindicators, such as trade shares of individual countries. Inaddition, they are strongly correlated with importantinputs, including country productivity and size, factorendowments, trade costs, and regulatory measures. Inparticular, the results suggest that a more restrictiveregulatory environment significantly reduces theinternational tradability of services.
