In today's world, when opendiscussions on an issue of national development interest,almost always come across a dimension that relates tomanaging integration. Development in one country, so tospeak, is not easy. Put positively, joining forces togetherto deal with issues of inter-dependence will create a farstronger base for progress and global competitiveness. Theauthor absolutely need to create new instruments to back upnational efforts by also supporting nations' ways ofhandling common issues and dealing with transboundarychallenges ranging from environmental pollution, migration,conservation of marine resources, communication networks,and urban growth to name a few. The Marseille Center forMediterranean Integration tries to do exactly that, byproviding a platform for communities of practice focused ondevelopment issues across the region to ask hard questionsabout themselves, find answers that will be actionable andin so doing, contribute to the prosperity of the region as awhole. By identifying critical knowledge gaps and developingpolicy guidelines, the Center will support leaders and otherkey stakeholders in the region to adopt evidence-basedpolicy-making and jointly pursue common development goals.
