【 摘 要 】
This note considers the impacts onfemale workers of two forms of labor market regulationscommon in developing countries: mandated maternity benefitsand working-hour restrictions for women. Anecdotal evidencesuggests that maternity benefits are unpopular withemployers. Many developing countries also have working-hourrestrictions specific to female workers. Such restrictionsare usually motivated by concerns for women's healthand safety.
