【 摘 要 】

This paper sheds light on how to harvestthe "youth dividend" in Sub-Saharan Africa bycreating jobs in agriculture. The agriculture that attractsthe youth will have to be profitable, competitive, anddynamic. These are the same characteristics needed foragriculture to deliver growth, to improve food security, andto preserve a fragile natural environment. With higherpriority accorded to implementation of well-designed publicinvestments in agriculture, continued progress on regulatoryand policy reform, and attention to assure inclusion ofyoung people in Africa's agricultural renaissance, thesector's handsome youth dividend can be collected andwidely shared.
