【 摘 要 】

This report looks at the governance andmanagement systems required to establish the NationalStatistical System, and is the result of two missions toSouth Africa by the consultant. The development of theNational Statistical System (NSS) has made considerableprogress over the life of the project particularly inraising awareness of the NSS among all parts of government,and forming partnerships with producer and user governmentbodies.Several consultants have worked on plans for theNSS, including a business plan, departmental audits andtraining.A step change in data quality in the widerstatistical system of government departments will require anincrease in resources and greater priority to be given toimproving information systems. Additional resources will berequired in the producing departments outside StatisticsSouth Africa (Stats SA).
