This Note shows how, through a processof consultation between the World Bank Transport Sector andPrivate Sector Department, some focus on transport has beenintroduced into the Global "core" module of theInvestment Climate Survey. The Note also shows the scope forachieving much more focus on specific transport constraintsin Investment Climate Assessments for countries where theseare expected to be particularly important. Examples aregiven of questionnaires which have been developed tocomplement the "core" module and specifically tomeet the needs of two Regions, Africa and Latin America andthe Caribbean, where different aspects of transport havebeen identified as significant considerations for investors. For Africa the focus is on the availability of suitabletransport services. For Latin America the emphasis is ratheron the role of transport in influencing the location ofenterprises. Application of these revised questionnaireswill provide more data on the contribution of transport todoing business in different countries.
