The paper aims to provide an overview ofthe gender disparities in three major domains-human capital,labor market and entrepreneurship. In doing so, it builds onthe framework of the World Bank's regional genderreport opportunities for men and women: emerging Europe andCentral Asia (World Bank, 2011) and the world developmentreport on gender and development (World Bank, 2011). Thisjoint gender assessment work has the objectives of analyzingthe gender dimensions of development of the country andproposing a conceptual framework which will assist inexplaining gender inequality and recommending public actionsfor consideration by policy makers and civil society. Thisreport is an input into the larger country genderassessment. In agreement with the other partners, the scopeof this report is limited to quantitative analysis of thegender aspects of the human capital development, labormarket disparities, entrepreneurship, career advancement andwage differentials, using nationally representativehousehold survey data. The rest of this paper is organizedas follows: section one provides an analysis of genderdisparities in human capital focusing on education andhealth outcomes, section two describes men's andwomen's employment patterns, section three discussesdifferences in earnings, section four focuses on men'sand women's entrepreneurship and possibilities forcareer advancement in business and politics and section fiveprovides concluding observations.
