【 摘 要 】

The authors analyze the effects ofbuilding height restrictions, providing a concrete welfarecost estimate for the city of Bangalore, India. Relying onseveral theoretical results, their analysis shows that thewelfare cost imposed on its residents by Bangalore'sbuilding height restriction ranges between 3 and 6 percentof household consumption. This burden represents asignificant share of individual resources, and its presencemay push many marginal households into poverty.
