【 摘 要 】

For a long time, HIV/AIDS was viewed aspurely a health issue. Yet HIV/AIDS has implications thatreach far beyond health - including great impact onagricultural and food production systems. In Sub-SaharanAfrica (SSA), most infected people live in rural areas andHIV/AIDS has become mostly a rural problem. In largelyrural-based economies, it is unlikely that the epidemic canbe controlled without the effective support of theagricultural sector, which is in a strong position to assistin both the prevention and mitigation of HIV/AIDS.
