The primary objective of this article isto present nugormesese as an indigenous mechanism of socialcapital in Buem-Kator, a farming community on the Ghana sideof the Ghana-Togo border area. The concept of social capitalwill be minimally defined to refer to the capability ofsocial norms and customs to hold members of a group togetherby effectively setting and facilitating the terms of theirrelationships. Unlike physical capital (machineries, bankaccounts, etc.) and human capital (knowledge, skills, etc),social capital is a relational factor or social resourcethat sustainably facilitates collective action for achievingmutually beneficial ends.
