This new report presents the results ofa systematic assessment of the World Bank’s 15-yearexperience with the productive alliance approach adopted by21 projects in 10 countries across Latin America and theCaribbean. With funding of over United States (U.S.) 1billion dollar since the early 2000s, increasing evidencesuggests that the productive alliance approach can lead toincreases in productivity, market integration, and income ofsmallholder farmers. The findings of this report are basedon a detailed overview and comparison of differentproductive alliance projects in terms of targetingstrategies, subproject selection, implementation,monitoring, and evaluation. It provides valuable lessons ondifferent design features and implementation experiences forfuture operations.
