Natural hazards regularly impact the performance oftransport systems and their ability to provide safe,reliable, efficient, and accessible means of transportfor all citizens, especially in emergency situations.Despite the frequency of natural hazards, and thethreat of more extreme and variable weather as aresult of climate change, there is still no systematicapproach to addressing natural disasters in thetransport sector and there is little knowledge that hasbeen disseminated on this topic. This report offers aframework for understanding the principles ofresilience in transport. It provides practical examples,gathered from an extensive secondary literaturereview and interviews, of the measures that transportprofessional can implement in transport projects.
