To further develop and finalize theFishery Performance Indicators (FPIs) for scaling up to theBank's entire fisheries portfolio, a number of specificpilots and case studies have been conducted. This reportprovides an overview of the FPIs, and a summary of two casestudies in its application, the blue swimming crab (BSC)fisheries in Indonesia and the Philippines. A comparativeanalysis with an Icelandic lobster fishery is conducted as abenchmark, as the Icelandic lobster fishery is also exportoriented and has been recognized as a well-managed fishery. The study is organized as follows: chapter two provides abrief introduction of FPIs and the blue swimming fisheriesin Indonesia and the Philippines. Chapter three presents theresults for FPIs that measure the success('outputs') in achieving the 'triple bottomline' of environmental, social, and economicsustainability and provides a critical evaluation ofstrengths, weaknesses, and omissions of the current FPIsdesign. Chapter four presents the results for FPIs thatmeasure factors ('inputs') that enable (orundermine) the likelihood that the triple bottom line willbe achieved and provides a critical evaluation of strengths, weaknesses, and omissions of the current FPIs design chapterfive summarizes the results and draws conclusions about theapplicability of FPIs and next steps. Five appendicesprovide supplementary information. Appendix A providesdetailed explanation of the rationale and measurement foreach indicator. Appendix B lists additional suggestedindicators based on the case studies. Appendix C lists theparticipants who have attended the workshops in London andHawaii. Appendixes D and E illustrate the FPIs' outputand input results for the studied fisheries, respectively.
