【 摘 要 】
Data collected for refugee registrationand to target humanitarian assistance include informationabout household composition and demographics that can beused to identify gender-based vulnerabilities. This papercombines the microdata collected by United Nations HighCommissioner for Refugees to register refugees with datafrom its Home Visit surveys to analyze income poverty ratesamong refugees with a gender lens. It finds distinguishingbetween different types of male and female principalapplicant (PA) households is important in the setting ofSyrian refugees in Jordan. Poverty rates for couples withchildren do not differ by gender of the PA but for otherhousehold types poverty rates are higher for those withfemale PAs. Households formed because of the unpredictabledynamics of forced displacement, such as sibling households, unaccompanied children, and single caregivers, are extremelyvulnerable, especially if the principal applicant is a womanor a girl.
