【 摘 要 】
This paper examines how easilyobservable interviewer characteristics, such as gender andphysical attractiveness, and more difficult to observecharacteristics, such as attitudes and beliefs, affectadolescent girls' disclosure of sexual behavior duringa baseline survey for an adolescent girls program inLiberia. The study finds that girls are more likely toreport sexual activity to better-looking interviewers, andless likely to do so to interviewers holding morediscriminatory gender attitudes and greater expectationsabout the program. The study finds no evidence that thegender of the interviewer matters.
