【 摘 要 】
Early childhood development is acritical, but often neglected, phase of human development.Shortfalls in early childhood development have historicallybeen a challenge in Morocco, with children facing unequalopportunities to develop because of the circumstances oftheir birth. This paper examines the roots of inequality inhuman and economic development in Morocco by focusing on thestate of early childhood development, inequality in earlychildhood development, and trends over time, using severalsurveys conducted between 2003 and 2012. Large disparitiesexist in children's chances of healthy early childhooddevelopment based on the circumstances of their birth. Therehave not been consistent improvements in the levels of earlychildhood development or decreases in inequality over time. This study discusses critical directions for future policyon early childhood development to address the deficits anddisparities identified.
