【 摘 要 】
How much an economy should invest in itsphysical infrastructure is a crucial question being asked bypolicy makers from developing countries where financialresources for economic development are limited. This paperaims to address this question by bringing insights from theliterature that investigates the relationship betweeninfrastructure investment, economic growth, and povertyalleviation. The study shows that there is no consensusamong the existing studies, which are mostly focused onindustrialized economies, on the relationship between publicinvestment and economic growth. Studies that investigate therelationship between physical infrastructure and economicgrowth mostly conclude that there exists a positiverelationship. This is also true between physicalinfrastructure and income inequality, as reported by a fewstudies. This study also identifies many gaps in theliterature and highlights the need for further studies tonarrow them.
