【 摘 要 】

The Cultural Trade Index aims to shedlight on cultural trade and stimulate interest in how thislittle-known area can contribute to economicdiversification, boost shared prosperity, and reduce extremepoverty. As the first index of its kind, the Cultural TradeIndex would gather cultural trade data scattered acrossdifferent sources, place them in one place, and show howcountries are performing. The key objective is to helpinform decision making to advance cultural trade fordevelopment. Since culture is not restricted to monetarygain, a Cultural Exchange Index could also be created tocomplement the Cultural Trade Index. The Cultural ExchangeIndex would rank countries according to their participationin international cultural exchanges. Comprehensive researchefforts would be needed for these ideas to make meaningfulcontributions to cultural trade and development policy.
