【 摘 要 】
This paper studies foreign directinvestment spillovers on the gender-related labor marketpractices of domestic firms, based on a unique firm-to-firmdata set of Bangladesh's textiles and garment sectors. The paper looks at the female employment of domestic firmsthat are directly and indirectly related to foreign directinvestment firms through supply chain linkages. Thesedomestic firms are either the local suppliers or customersof foreign direct investment firms, or they share localsuppliers and customers with foreign direct investmentfirms. The estimates show that domestic firms related toforeign direct investment firms have significantly morefemale administrative workers, but not necessarily femalenon-administrative workers, due to the former participatingin more firm-to-firm interactions.
