The report examines the current tourismdevelopment and market of the Prešovský Samosprávny Kraj,Presov Self-Governing Region (PSK), focusing particularly onthe lagging district of Snina and the National Park ofPoloniny, and the opportunities for their improvement aspotential drivers of equitable local economic growth in thePSK. It is being conducted in support of the EuropeanCommission (EC's) Catching Up Regions Initiative. ThePSK location and its unique natural and cultural heritagefeatures make it a tourism-friendly potential destination.The Snina District and National Poloniny Park (NPP) havemany challenges to address in order to realize the growthbenefits of their tourism sector. This report recommends aset of interrelated actions to create the cohesion needed tostimulate tourism as a major economic driver for the region.
