This report aims to assess the spatialdimensions of settlement, internal migration, and welfareinequality in Zimbabwe, explore their relationship andimplications, and identify policy options for addressingspatial disparities in social outcomes. It is exploratory innature and identifies areas for further research to continueto unravel the drivers of the pattern that is observed. Thestudy looks at where people are today (chapter 2), unpacksurbanization trends, and reviews population density andconnectivity (chapter 3). Chapter 4 assesses the reasonsbehind the spatial settlement patterns and looks atZimbabwe’s historical land allocation, land reform, andeconomic crisis in the 2000s. Chapter 5 discusses theconsequences of this spatial distribution of the populationin terms of poverty, nonfarm employment, and servicedelivery outcomes. Chapter 6 discusses policy implications.
