This poverty assessment focuses on theevolution of poverty and other social indicators in Ethiopiabetween 2010-11 and 2015-2016 (henceforth referred to as2011 and 2016). Using data from a variety of sources, mainlythe twinned household living standards surveys (HCES andWMS), the Ethiopia Socioeconomic Survey (ESS) and theDemographic and Health Surveys (DHS), the poverty assessmentdocuments trends in monetary and non-monetary dimensions ofliving standards and examines the drivers of observedtrends, with a special focus on government programs. The aimof the poverty assessment is to provide policy makers anddevelopment partners with information and analysis that canbe used to improve the effectiveness of their povertyreduction and social programs.
