This poverty assessment analyzes recenttrends in monetary and nonmonetary aspects ofpoverty andeconomic vulnerability in the Republic of Congo (ROC), basedon two nationallyrepresentative and broadly comparablehousehold expenditure surveys conducted bythe NationalInstitute of Statistics (NIS) in 2005 and 2011. The studydetermines the drivers ofpoverty reduction by systematicallylooking at demographic, labor, and human capitaldimensions.The report also discusses cross-cutting issuesrelevant for poverty reduction, such as servicedelivery,marginalization of autochthons, and others. This study aimsto provide policy makerswith the knowledge needed to improvethe effectiveness of their programs to reduce andfinallyeradicate extreme poverty in the Republic of Congo.
