This compendium presents examples andanalyses of space cooling interventions from across theworld (from both developed and developing countries), withan aim to highlight the key insights learned. Interventionsdiscussed in the compendium are meant to be options toinform strategies, implementation mechanisms, and road mapsfor countries that are seeking to address and increasesustainable space cooling. Interventions involve acombination of actions reducing cooling loads, servingcooling needs efficiently, and optimizing and controllingcooling loads. While each country will chart its own pathwaytoward sustainable space cooling, the need for amultipronged approach consistently applies. The bestoutcomes will emerge from a multipronged approach thatincorporates information, policy and regulatory measures, clear leadership, financing and implementation models, training, and research and development. The objectives ofthe primer are to introduce a broad audience, includingpractitioners in different fields, to space cooling and tohelp initiate and advance sustainable space cooling intopolicy discussions and investment considerations indeveloping countries. The primer explains the foundationalaspects of space cooling, makes the case that sustainablespace cooling achieved through low-energy andlow-climate-impact pathways is a critical priority, andemphasizes an integrative approach as essential toaddressing space cooling sustainably.
