The development community isincreasingly accepting the importance of evidence, feedback, and learning. Some of which is generated through research, monitoring, and self-evaluation during policy-making,program design, and implementation. Others come fromfeedback from people directly affected by interventions whohave gained a greater voice, be it through third-partyfeedback mechanisms, social media, beneficiary surveys, orotherwise. And, there is independent evaluation. At theWorld Bank Group, the independent evaluation group (IEG) hasover the past years deepened the evidence that can helpdevelopment finance succeed in translating the sustainabledevelopment goals (SDGs) into actions and results.
