【 摘 要 】

The purpose of this technical note is todescribe how the welfare aggregate and poverty line wereconstructed in Lebanon using HBS 2011. It is a part ofbroader collaboration between CAS and the World Bank toimprove data quality and poverty monitoring capabilities inthe country. Different approaches have been tested tocorrect non-response and to measure poverty. The noteconsists of eight sections. Section 2 briefly discusses mainmethodological issues in poverty measurement. Section 3explains construction of different components of welfareaggregate. Section 4 documents construction of povertylines. Triangulation of obtained poverty estimates,sensitivity analysis are conducted in section 5. Thissection also contains supplementary poverty numbers based onconsumption per adult equivalent. Finally, section 6concludes and discusses areas for further consideration inpoverty measurement.
