This Technical Note examines India’ssecurities market and the regulatory system overseeing thesecurities market and market participants. It is based upona mission to Mumbai, India from March 14 – 31, 2017,conducted as one component of a joint IMF-World BankFinancial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP). This Noteupdates a detailed IOSCO assessment that was conducted fromJune 15 to July 1, 2011 as part of an FSAP and published inAugust 2013. It examines the changes that have occurred inIndia’s securities markets since the last assessment and thechanges that have occurred in the regulation of this market.
