This assessment is focused on theSuperintendencia de Seguros de la Nacion (SSN) in Argentina.SSN has responsibility for regulation and supervision of allplayers in the insurance market. In addition to its role asa supervisor, SSN has powers to issue regulations, isresponsible for advising the executive on issues related toinsurance, and can propose draft bills. The laws are passedby the national legislative branch and enacted by thenational executive branch. The assessment was performedusing the 2007 version of the core principles for insurancesupervision issued by the International Association ofInsurance Supervisors (IAIS). This paper is structured intofollowing four parts: part one is information andmethodology used for the assessment; part two isinstitutional and macro prudential setting, part three givessummary assessment; and part four gives authorities' responses.
