The populations of both developed anddeveloping countries are aging, a trend that means that allcountries need to pay particular attention to providinghealth and social care to the elderly. The aging of thepopulation is one of the key global drivers for integrationof care. The increasing incidence of chronic diseases andcomorbidities requires more coordination across careproviders and settings. Improving health and social servicesfor elderly people is one of the priorities for thegovernment of the Russian Federation. This report attemptsto address that gap by presenting the results of a studyconducted in three Russian regions to assess the needs ofthe elderly for integrated health and social services. Themain objective of this study is to find out to what extentthe national social and health care policies targeting theelderly meet their needs and consider their abilities.
