It has developed acomprehensive risk management approach with an emphasis onoperational risk management. At the same time, a few areasand opportunities for improvement have been noted in thisreport in light of enhancing principles for financial marketinfrastructures (PFMI) observance. This assessment wasundertaken in the context of the International Monetary Fund(IMF) - World Bank (WB) financial sector assessment program(FSAP) to Mexico in April and May 2016. The objective of theassessment has been to identify potential risks related tothe FMI that may affect financial stability. While safe andefficient FMIs contribute to maintaining and promotingfinancial stability and economic growth, they may alsoconcentrate risk. If not properly managed, FMIs can besources of financial shocks, such as liquidity dislocationsand credit losses, or a major channel through which theseshocks are transmitted across domestic and internationalfinancial markets.
