This report provides a brief overview ofsix economic zones in Nigeria, and discusses the mainfindings with respect to the zones: development goals andthe anticipated benefits of the zone projects, keyimplementation challenges and preliminary proposals onenhancing the development/implementation process movingforward. The objective is to improve the sharedunderstanding of these six zone projects and to identifyopportunities on how foreign investments in these six zonescan provide the maximum possible benefits both for investingcountries and the host country. Based on a preliminaryassessment, it seems all six zones reviewed in this reporthave made some progress, albeit at different degrees. Interms of real development, the Lekki Free Zone and theOgun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone have made the mostsignificant progresses, with some on-site infrastructurealready built or committed and several firms alreadyoperating in the zones. The zones in Abuja and Delta Stateare mostly in the early stages, but they seem to have stronggovernment ownership and backing and each got severalpotential partners or anchor firms interested for investing.
