Private businesses and investors cancreate markets and accelerate growth forlow-incomecommunities in emerging markets. In doing so, theybenefit from estimates of poverty in thetargeted marketsegments they seek to serve. While national householdsurveys provide povertydata, they are often too costly andoverly broad for the purposes of private enterprises. Useofthe Poverty Probability Index can help businesses improvetheir estimates of poverty and therebybetter tailor theiroperations and strategies to specific populations.
