The World Bank Group’s engagement inTurkey’s power sector, which began in the 1990s andcontinues today, has helped to expand independent powerproduction and privatize electricity distribution in thecountry. Significant investments made in both generation anddistribution shifted the power sector toward privateinvestment and management while meeting growing energy needs.
