Corrective Action Unit (CAU) 214, Bunkers and Storage Areas, is identified in the Federal Facility Agreement and Consent Order of 1996. CAU 214 consists of nine Corrective Action Sites (CASs) located in Areas 5, 11, and 25 of the Nevada Test Site (NTS). The NTS is located approximately 105 kilometers (65 miles) northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada, in Nye County. CAU 2 14 was previously characterized in 2004, and results were presented in the Corrective Action Decision Document (CADD) for CAU 2 14 (U. S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site Office (NNSANSO), 2004). Site characterization indicated that soil and/or debris exceeded clean-up criteria for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH), pesticides, metals, and radiological contamination. The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection approved the proposed corrective actions specified in the CADD (NNSA/NSO, 2004). The approved corrective actions include no further action, clean closure, and closure in place with administrative controls.
