【 摘 要 】

The 216-B-64 Retention Basin and UPR-200-E-64 are located in the 200 East Area of the Hanford Site. The retention basin is located west of Atlanta Avenue and north of 7th Street. Site UPR-200-E-64 is adjacent to the west side of 216-B-64. Both sites combined are approximately 1.22 ha (3 ac) in size. The 216-B-64 Retention Basin was associated with B Plant (221-B Building) operations and was built to serve as an emergency diversion basin for steam condensate that exceeded crib release limits. Under normal operating conditions, the effluent steam condensate stream flowed through the B Plant condensate steam diversion station (located at the south end of the basin) and discharged to the 216-B-55 Crib. Under emergency conditions, the flow of the stream could be diverted into the 216-B-64 Basin. Effluent could be pumped back to B Plant or routed to the 216-B-55 Crib. The site has not been used except for an initial test. The basin was deactivated in 1997 and was posted as a soil contamination area (SCA).
