Executive Summary:The Water Benefits AccountingAssessment - Lake Mulwala Case Study project builds on and brings together work being undertaken by CSIRO as part of the Water for a Healthy Country flagship, and that being undertaken by Goulburn-Murray Water, the Community Reference Group and communities in the Lake Mulwala area in developing and implementing the 'Water Benefits' approach the CSIRO research team ahs been able to draw on people's perceptions f the potential benefits and disadvantages associated with elements of the Management Plan and to use this information to provide advice and options for implementation o fthe Plan.The analysis provided by the study provides an important basis for priority setting for implementation of the Plan - what should be done now and what needs to occur over the longer term implementation period to gain maximum benefit.The study indicates support for a range of the activities proposed in the Management Plan and a belief that these activities will contribute to improvements in the benefits identified throughout the study.This support and belief however is accompanied by views about the potential for perceived benefits to become disadventages, depending on how the implementation of the Plan and its activities proceeds.
