【 摘 要 】

The context statement summarises the current extent of knowledge on the ecology, hydrology, geology and hydrogeology of a bioregion. It provides baseline information relevant to understanding the regional context of water resources within which coal seam gas and coal mining development is occurring. Information is collated to support the interpretation of the impact analysis, risk analysis and outcomes of the bioregional assessment.The context statement includes materially relevant characteristics of a bioregion that are needed to adequately interpret output from ecological, surface water and groundwater datasets and models, and from this develop improved knowledge of whole-of-system functioning.No new analysis or modelling is presented in the context statement; it is essentially a literature review of existing information. Thus, some figures are reproduced from other sources and thus may not be consistent with those produced in the Assessment. Likewise, results from different sources may use different methods or inconsistent units.
