This report discusses the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) which forecasts crop and livestock production levels at the national, state, and county levels based off a variety of farm data gathered by department. Concerns for Congress related to declining farmer participation in NASS surveys affecting the forecasts reliability and making sure that the results remain unbiased to avoid market price reactions.
