These Regulations impose a general duty on the Secretary of State, Scottish Ministers, the Welsh Ministers and certain government departments in Northern Ireland to exercise their functions to secure compliance with Directive 2008/56/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a framework for Community action in the field of marine environmental policy.
