【 摘 要 】
Eu3+-doped Ba3MgSi2O8 has attracted much attention for the photochromic behavior. It has been suggested that this behavior originates from photoinduced electron defects. In this study, electron defects induced in this silicate were discussed from spectroscopic similarity between Ba3MgSi2O8: Eu3+ and isostructural K3Na (SO4)2. ESR spectra measured for a single-crystalline K3Na(SO4)2, orientation of which was determined by Raman spectroscopy, revealed that CuK alpha radiation induced anisotropic SO4- radicals within the structure. Similar anisotropic character was observed in CuK alpha-irradiated Ba3MgSi2O8: Eu3+ and it indicates that electron defects with similar geometry formed by CuK alpha irradiation. From the g-value, the electron defects induced in Ba3MgSi2O8: Eu3+ was assigned to SiO4-related radicals. (c) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
