【 摘 要 】
The compressive behaviour of a Zr-based metallic glass was studied in situ through optical and infrared imaging. Results show that localization bands are more complex than simple planes, and interactions between different slip systems are an essential ingredient to understanding slip arrest and hence the ultimate strain such materials sustain. Roughness, which is responsible for both the damage and arrest mechanisms, is argued to be another key feature that enhances the ultimate macroscopic shear strain. (C) 2009 Acta Materialia Inc.
