【 摘 要 】

Eleven humic acid samples have been isolated from a number of Syncrude sludge pond tailings that had been pretreated under different experimental conditions. These samples were extracted using 0.5 N NaOH or a mixture of 0.1 N NaOH and 0.1 M Na4P2O7. Based on the dissolution efficiency of the two extracting liquids it appeared that the humic acids from samples of high clay content were strongly associated with calcium while the humic acids from low clay samples were more likely bound to non-silicate aluminium and/or iron. The various humic acid samples isolated have been analysed for elemental compositions and characterized by i.r. and C-13 n.m.r. spectroscopy. A comparison with previously reported data for oil sands humic acids suggest that the humic acids from the two studies are similar.
