【 摘 要 】
RI: Well, I’m trained as a cognitive psychologist. Cognitivepsychology is building models of the mind: how do wethink, how do we use language, and how do we perceive objects? These questions are usually addressed in terms of psychologicalprocesses. Cognitive neuroscience was a real new push in the early1980s which recognized that we can use neuroscience methodsnot just to describe what part of the brain does something, butactually use that neuroscientific information to help shape ourpsychological theories. So, whereas behavioral neurology is solely interested in whatpart of the brain does what, cognitive neuroscience is the idea thatnot only can we use insights from our psychological experimentsto understand how the brain works, but we can also then take theinsights from studying the brain to build psychological theories. That’s the essence of cognitive neuroscience—it is a bidirectionalinterest.
