【 摘 要 】
Whether taken recreationally or asprescribed, ingested opiates alterour brain chemistry and pave a road topossible addiction. While the opiate crisisas we know it today has only come to theforefront in the last decade, the effects ofopiate abuse on our society can be tracedback to the nineteenth century, when drugssuch as morphine came into mainstreamuse. Due to modern technology and themass production of drugs, opiates are incredibly accessible and widespread in theiruse today. Therefore, educating individualsabout the issue at hand can prevent the crisis of opioid addiction from escalating.
